York High School is a very special place and it has been my privilege to be the Headteacher since the school opened in 2007. In that time our vision has not changed. I believe that our school is here to serve our local community and we do that by welcoming young people with a wide range of abilities and talents. Every young person is deserving of good teaching, great support and inspiration to help them achieve goals they never believed were possible.
Below is a video about York High School which expains our values and ethos and the views of Staff, Pupils and Governors.
The whole team of staff and governors at York High are united in our belief that education matters and that we can make a difference to the lives of all our students. We work in very close partnership with our students, families, our excellent partner primary schools and a wide range of other partners, including York College and ensure we help young people fulfil their academic potential but equally importantly they leave us ready to take their place in the world.
Our PRIDE mission statement, based on the values of the Olympics and Paralympic Games is at the centre of all our work. We believe that sport in its widest sense can be a catalyst for helping young people grow in confidence and develop these extra skills that employer’s value. We have just embarked on a three year partnership with the Rugby Football Union and we will continue to build on the superb work we have been doing with the Royal Shakespeare Company. York High has something to inspire and nurture every young person who becomes part of our school.
I am immensely proud of our students, my colleagues and our community. If you would like to know more about what we do please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a visit.
