York High School a place where students can learn and teachers can teach.
York High School is a happy and caring school where your child will be educated in a secure environment that values them as an individual. From the first visits to the primary schools until long after GCSE exams, we aim for all of our students to be proud of their school. We seek to maximise the potential and the life chances of all of our students.
York High School is going through a period of change and improvement. The school is now closely linked to the South Bank Academy Trust and we are delighted to work in partnership with our fellow trust schools Millthorpe, Scarcroft, Woodthorpe, Carr Junior and Knavesmire. After 10 years in charge of Pastoral Care at York High School, I was delighted to be appointed as Head of School and I am now working together with Trevor Burton, our Executive Headteacher, who has previously been Headteacher at Millthorpe School.
We have made significant changes since September 2018 and would like to invite anyone to watch the videos below where you will hear from our staff and students about how different the school is now.
Video 1 – Change & Aspiration
A guide for parents and future colleagues about what York High stands for and how it has improved over the last 18 months.
Video 2 – Teachers guide
A guide for anyone thinking of applying for a job at York High School. We value our staff and believe that the training we offer is the best available.
There are so many opportunities for students at York High School such as our links with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Drama and the opportunity to study Latin and the History of Art through our links with the York Independent and State Schools Partnership.
Our school is at the heart of our community and is full of hard working, caring, confident and happy students.
I am very proud of our students, our staff and the community that we serve.
If you would like to know more about our school, please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a visit.
