Rod Sims - What's happening at YHS
Weekly Round-up - 12/10/2018

THIS WEEK:

After Halloween here is a scary thought!  By the end of this half term we will have completed 15 weeks of the school year, this is half of the year for year 11 and nearly 40% of the school year for everyone else.  It will also be December 22nd so no time for last minute shopping when we break up!

It has been an action packed week and here are some of the highlights

On Tuesday the Year 8 parents evening got us off to a positive start, 55% of Year 8 parents attended the evening.  The Jon Egging Trust were in all day Tuesday to launch the Blue Skies project with Year 8.

Wednesday saw the Year 11 Dance Show.  The girls put on a really enjoyable show and a big thank you to Mrs Sherlock who organised the evening and to all the staff who helped the girls.  Great to see to the two new Year 11’s dancing along to Shape of You!  Also nice to see the returning dance students from last year who thought it was a 7 pm start and missed the first half of the show.  We also hosted 10 students from the University of York who are between them offering 200 hours of 1 to 1 tuition in English and Maths for our Year 11 students.

This week we have 478 students with 100% attendance and no lates, congratulations to the students and to the parents for ensuring excellent attendance.

Year 11 parents look out for the report that we have sent home which contains the most up to date predictions and effort grades.

All the best
Rod Sims
