Our support centre is a specialist provision on site that is specifically for KS3 pupils who, for a variety of reasons, may not be succeeding in the main school. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure learning environment where all pupils can achieve their potential. We run a timetable that closely mirrors the main school lessons but also has designated sessions in the week to help pupils develop coping strategies, control their anger and also learn social skills that can be lacking. We raise the pupil’s self-esteem and after a period of time we will gradually reintegrate them back into their mainstream lessons. We would expect pupils in the support centre to make academic progress at least in line with their peers in school. The pupils build very strong links with the staff in the support centre and respond very well to the structure and routine that the support centre provides.
