Bike It!
Bike it is an exciting project which helps more pupils to be able to cycle to school. It is run by Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, and funded by the Bicycle Industry, the Big Lottery Fund ans Cycling England.
York High School is one of twelve schools in York to be part of Bike It. Jim Cole is the Bike It Officer for York and will help our school in the following ways:
- Organising promotional activities and events such as competitions, bike rides, cycle skills sessions, after school clubs and much more...
- Working with the local authority to make sure as many pupils as possible can have good quality cycle training and safe routes to school.
- Presentations and assemblies for parents and pupils about the benefits of cycling, as well as help with cycling-related classroom sessions and after school clubs.
- Building links with bike shops and other cycling organisations in the local community.
Letters to Parents and Carers will be sent on a regular basis keeping you up to date on the latest events.
