Curriculum and Faculties

Our school has a curriculum fit for the twenty first century.

In Years 7 - 9 we follow the national curriculum, but we will structure the curriculum in a way which challenges our most able pupils and supports our most vulnerable young people. We are planning a radically new KS3 curriculum for September 2009.

In Years 10 - 11 we are committed to providing a range of learning pathways which will meet the individual needs and learning styles of all our pupils. We intend to use our Sports College Specialism to drive this development Including new diplomas in Engineering and Society and Health from September 2008 while continuing to offer high quality GCSE programmes, including a range of vocational GCSEs.

Our total commitment to inclusion means that we will work with a range of partners in the education, voluntary and business sector to provide learning programmes which maintain the motivation of our pupils and so maximise their achievement.

Our curriculum will also be designed to contribute to the personal development of our young people. We will have a dedicated team of teachers who will deliver a programme covering:

  • Health and Sex Education
  • Careers Education
  • Citizenship
  • Work Related Learning

Our aim is to equip our pupils with those skills which are highly valued by employers, to prepare our young people for a rapidly changing world and to give them the values, qualifications and confidence to make a success of their adult lives.
