Welcome to York High School. It has been my privilege to be the Headteacher of York High School since its opening in September 2007. We have made fantastic progress since then and I believe there is a sense of the excitement, energy and passion about our school which drives us forward to further success in the future.

First and foremost our school is about young people and our mission is to ensure our pupils gain the very best qualifications and have the confidence, skills and self-esteem to be successful in an increasingly challenging world. These are our aspirations for every single pupil and we are proud that the rapid improvement in our examination results means that the vast majority of our pupils leave us with qualifications that set them up for those next steps.

In 2012, 97% of our pupils gained the equivalent of 5A* - C grades at GCSE. These were the best set of results of any Local Authority school in the city, and equally important to us, no pupil left our school last summer without at least one qualification.

Behind those headlines, GCSE results are individual stories of care and support which reflect the fantastic work the staff at York High School do and, as a Sports College, our values are underpinned by those of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We aim to inspire everyone to be the very best they can be, irrespective of where they start, and the help they may need.
