The Humanities Faculty at York High School consists of 15 experienced and enthusiastic teachers including the Faculty Leader and two Subject Leaders. Lessons are delivered in Geography, History, Religious Studies and Leisure and Tourism.
The team of teachers are a diverse collection of highly committed and talented individuals whose aim it is to provide outstanding teaching and learning for their pupils.
The faculty vision is to be outstanding in everything it does. Humanities is at the forefront of an ever changing world and has a huge responsibility in preparing young people for life after school, therefore analysis, understanding and tolerance is at the heart of our curriculum. Improving pupils learning within Humanities will always be at the top of the agenda. Implementing a thorough programme of study and increasingly varied teaching styles combined with hard work and a positive outlook will continue to improve pupils learning.
Regular out of hours learning opportunities are available as well as numerous educational visits both home and abroad.
All pupils are taught History, Geography and Religious Studies in KS3. Currently over 75% of pupils opt to study one of the GCSE's offered by the Humanities Faculty in KS4.
The Humanities Faculty is housed on the first floor in a fully refurbished suite of 8 teaching areas. The Humanities Faculty provides pupils with excellent facilities and a vast range of resources including film, music, artefact's and subject based software to ensure they reach their full potential.
