Uniform
A new school uniform from September 2011?
Three years into the history of York High School, governors have agreed that they would like to review our uniform with a view to introducing some changes from September 2011. As part of that process all parents and carers are invited to come and look at possible alternatives on the evening of the year 8 parents meeting on 4th May. The parents evening will go ahead as normal and a range of suppliers will be displaying their uniform ideas in the main atrium and this display is open to all.
The current cost of uniform for a new Year 7 pupil is approximately £80.00 and we intend to keep the cost around the same. Pupils, staff and parents will have the opportunity to complete a survey over the next week or so to express their opinions on the new school uniform. Please return the surveys to school by Friday 14th May. Governors will make a final decision on 17th June and if the decision is made to change the school uniform, these changes will take effect from September 2011.

The pupils at York High School are the ambassadors for our school and we expect the highest standards of behaviour and appearance both within the building and the journey to and from school.
In consultation with parents and pupils we have selected a smart, comfortable and affordable uniform.
Pupils in Years 7-9 are required to wear:
- Blue Microfleece with school logo*
- Plain white polo shirt
- Black or dark grey trousers
- Plain black shoes
Pupils in Years 10 and 11 are required to wear:
- Black microfleece with school logo*
- As above for remaining items
From September 2009 all pupils are required to have the following York High School PE uniform:
- Tracksuit with logo*
- T shirt with logo*
- Black/blue reversible top*
- Black socks*
- Black shorts
*These items are purchased through the school as we have been able to negotiate an excellent price with our supplier. Order forms are sent to parents in the summer term.
As well as a smart appearance we expect our pupils will behave well, treat everyone in the community with respect and that they will try their very best. These attributes are rewarded with prizes and extra activities for those pupils who consistently do the right thing. When there are difficulties we work closely with parents. Our partnership as a school, as parents and as pupils is recognised in the charter we all sign at the start of a young persons career at York High School.
Finally, we have decided that from September 2008 pupils at York High School will not be permitted to bring mobile phones to school, we have made this decision based on our strong anti bullying and child protection policies and we trust that parents will support this approach.
