** IMPORTANT INFORMATION **
Delivery of orders
To avoid incurring delivery costs to parents, all orders are delivered into school for collection. When the order is dispatched to school you will receive a text message from Schoolshop advising you of this.
The only exception to this is for parents of pupils moving into Year 7 in September who ordered in school at the Year 6 parents evening events. These orders will be dispatched to home addresses free of charge.
If an item is out of stock with Schoolshop, the order may be dispatched in parts or held until all items are available. Again, Schoolshop will send text messages to confirm dispatch and collection from school.
During the summer holidays orders will be dispatched to school on two occasions only. Therefore uniform will only be available for collection from school on the following two days:
Wednesday 15th August between 9am – 3pm
Monday 3rd September between 9am – 3pm

We are proud of our students at York High School and want them to look smart in their school uniform. In order to ensure that that all pupil wear the correct uniform we would like to remind parents of some of the rules where we have had problems previously.
We are aware that replacing incorrect school uniform is an expensive exercise, so in order to avoid this, these are the key rules which will help you to buy the correct uniform.
Trousers and skirts
Black plain knee length skirts, with black opaque tights for girls or trousers must be worn. Students cannot wear trousers that are leggings, jeggings, chinos, cords, jeans or jean like trousers. All trousers, whether for girls or boys must have a zip fastening at the front.
Some of our students have taken to wearing trousers that are too short and do not reach the shoe; these are not permitted. Students who wear trousers that do not meet the uniform policy will be told to replace them with more suitable ones at the beginning of term.
Some examples of acceptable Girls trousers:
Some examples of acceptable Boys trousers:
School shoes/trainers must be all back, canvas shoes or plimsolls must not be worn.
It is essential that all students follow these rules and so if you are unsure about our school uniform and expectations please contact your child’s Year Leader before buying new items.
As well as a smart appearance we expect our pupils will behave well, treat everyone in the community with respect and that they will try their very best. These attributes are rewarded with prizes and extra activities for those pupils who consistently do the right thing. When there are difficulties we work closely with parents. Our partnership as a school, as parents and as pupils is recognised in the charter we all sign at the start of a young persons career at York High School.
Finally, we have decided that pupils are not permitted to bring mobile phones to school, we have made this decision based on our strong anti bullying and child protection policies and we trust that parents will support this approach.
