What I thought I wanted to do: I was never 100% sure about what I wanted to do. I have flipped between wanting to be a teacher, photographer, go into the military and a role in the justice system!
What I ended up doing: I am currently a paralegal at one of the ‘Big Six’ law firms in Leeds and I am hoping to secure a training contract with them for 2026 to begin the route to qualification as a solicitor.
How I got here: I studied one year of A Levels and decided they weren’t for me. I stayed at York College and did a BTEC in uniformed public services, and then went on to study my undergrad law degree at YSJ. I stayed on to complete my masters degree before I secured this job with the firm I’m at now.
Most useful skill or character trait for my job: Commercial awareness and effective communication.
Top tip! Always be your authentic self and be proud of your background.
