Message from the Head – Week 31

Week 31 – 19 May 2023

Good afternoon everyone, just a brief update this week from me. This week the main focus has been on our Year 11 students as they start their GCSE’s. Exams this week have included Maths, Science, History and English among others. In school before the exams we have seen some excellent revision sessions giving our students that final push. To the 6 Maths students who I was working with you were fantastic.

Year 11 keep going. We have one more week before your final half term!

On another note it has been a privilege to work with the local benefactors who have made it possible for us to support our students with free breakfasts, Free School Meals vouchers and the forthcoming Year 6 summer school. We at YHS are very proud that we can support our community through this link. We have been able to provide vouchers to all of our families who claim free school meals throughout all of the holidays in this academic year. One in three of our students receive Free School Meals.

We will be able to provide the vouchers again for the upcoming half term break. Unfortunately this will be the last time we are able to do this.

Have a great weekend, the weather forecast looks super.

Revising in the garden Year 11!

All the best

Rod Sims
