The results in 2016 reflect big improvement in outcomes for our Year 11 pupils compared to 2015 when our results were badly affected by the changes in grade boundaries in iGCSE English. In the course of 2015-16 students and staff worked incredibly hard to learn from what happened in 2015 and we were very pleased with the improvements that were made. The improvements in the key indicators can be seen in the table below:

In addition to this results in a range of other GCSE subjects improved. In DT Graphics, DT Resistant Materials, Drama, ICT and Religious Studies the outcomes exceeded national expectations and there were significant improvements in Geography and GCSE PE. There was also an increase in the number of A/A* grades with 10% of entries in Maths and English being at this level.
We are also pleased to report that vast majority of our students make a successful transition to post 16 learning and programmes. We do not yet have the data for 2016 but in 2015 94% of our students progressed on to recognised programmes of education and training. Of these pupils 14 embarked on apprenticeships which is an increasing trend. At the time this data was published in November 2015 nine students who left York High in June 2015 were not in employment or training.
