University or college? N/A

Favourite subject at school: Resistant Materials

What I thought I wanted to do: I wanted to manage hotels, or own my own hotel.

What I ended up doing: Managing hotels and running departments

How I got here: Throughout my time at York High and York college I worked part- time within the hospitality industry, mainly focusing on hotels. Since leaving school I have worked my way up into management, including operations management and deputy general manager.  My knowledge can be best used for areas such as Food & Beverage, Front of House, Leisure & Conference & Events, Reactive Sales, Revenue Management, Finance, Proactive Sales, Marketing & Social Media.

I am currently working for an incredibly large hotel management company, travelling across the UK opening and managing new individually owned properties. My role is to increase revenues, maximise staffing levels, carrying out training, and most importantly delivering the best customer service possible to our guests. I have recently just opened hotels in Devon, Watford, Milton Keynes and Northallerton.

Most useful skill or character trait for my job: My character trait would definitely be my fun personality, also laughing and making others laugh whilst also keeping professional and ensuring the job is done.

Top tip! Focus on your own future, and work as hard as you can for the success!
