Week 16 – 12 January 2024

Key Dates

  • Aspire Week – From Monday 16th January 2024
  • Year 8 Performing Arts Aspiration Day – Tuesday 16th January 2024

 

It is so good to be back at YHS this week.  The only shock to the system is the pace of school life! Many things, but in particular the calm atmosphere around school has not changed.  I am so pleased to see both students and staff again.

Our top ATL students set off on their reward trip to Meadowhall today.  Well done for all your hard work and excellent attitude.

 

Next week is a busy week with the following taking place:

 

Aspire Week

Monday 15th – whole school careers fair in the hall.

Tuesday 16th – Year 11 are out at College on taster days.

Wednesday 17th – 50 Year 11 students will be out all day at the University.

Friday 19th – Inspirational speaker for Year 10 and Year 11.

 

Year 8 Performing Arts Aspirations Day

Tuesday 16th January

Students will take part in different sessions including beatboxing, lyric writing, careers in the arts sector and Stomp.

 

Year 9 Pathways

Mr Byrne will be launching the Year 9 Pathways process next week.  All year 9 parents will receive more details next week but here are the key dates.

  • Initial launch:   Tuesday 16th January 24
  • Pathways reveal:   Monday 22nd January 24
  • Individual guidance meetings:   22nd – 24th January 24
  • Options/Parents evening:  Wednesday 24th January 24
  • Final deadline for options forms:   Friday 9th February 24

 

 

Exciting Times at York High!

Next week our behaviour curriculum will be looking at punctuality and how in later life and the working world the importance of being punctual.

A historic day for the French department with record breaking results!
Over 82% of students achieved at least a grade 4 and nearly 30% achieved a Grade 7 or above!

A special congratulations to Lucy P, Ethan R, Isobel S who all achieved Grade 9’s. Lucy S, Thomas W, Robyn K and Evie B for achieving a Grade 8.

The French department would like to say a special congratulations to Paisley T-C for the huge amounts of effort she demonstrated throughout her French studies. You should be very proud of the results you achieved!
