York High School celebrates Year 9 Graduation

On Wednesday 9 July 2025, York High School proudly celebrated a significant milestone in the academic journey of its Year 9 students.

A special graduation ceremony was held in the school hall to mark the students’ transition from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 – a pivotal moment as they move into the next phase of their education.

The event was a joyful and memorable occasion, attended by proud parents, carers, family members and York High staff. The presence of loved ones added to the sense of achievement and community spirit that defines York High School.

Gavin Kumar, Principal of York High School, said: “This transition marks a new chapter for our students as they look ahead to beginning their GCSE studies in September. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished so far and look forward to supporting them as they embrace the challenges and opportunities of Key Stage 4.

“On behalf of everyone at York High School, I would like to thank everyone who attended and supported our students on this special evening. It was wonderful to celebrate not only their achievements, but also their potential for the future.”

York High School belongs to Excel Learning Trust alongside six other schools across York – Millthorpe School, Carr Junior School, Knavesmire, Scarcroft and Woodthorpe Primary Schools and Inspire Academy.
