The highlight of this week was seeing 90 of the class of 2017 on Thursday evening to pick up their GCSE certificates.  When you see the adults that they are turning into it makes me wish that we had a sixth form.  The numbers were more than double the amount that we have had in previous years.  The format of the evening was much more student centred but I think that this was maybe at the expense of  parents?  I would be interested to hear what peoples thoughts are in relation to the evening.

Important Options News for Year 9

Next week Year 9 students will receive an assembly explaining their KS4 Options to them.  By Fri 24th November they will be asked to choose 4 subjects which they are considering opting for.  However, this is not their final options choices.  They will then do a taster day on Wednesday 10th January, where they will have the opportunity to learn more about these lessons and the requirements for KS4.  Following the Taster day we have our Y9 Parents evening and Options evening on Tuesday 16th January where you will be able to speak directly to subject teachers and also discuss any queries or concerns with Mrs Kitchen or Mr Langley. The final Options choices need to be made and submitted by Friday 19th January.

In the city this week our students have been representing the school with pride.  Year 7’s were at the ISSP debate event.

Our Year 8 and 9 students were at West Offices making their voices heard discussing local issues in particular the redevelopment of the teardrop site.  Mr Walker was very impressed with all involved.  Clearly they were warming up before they meet with me next week.

At the last count we have raised £642.64 for Children in Need.

Year 11’s – You should be revising practice exams start a week on Monday

Enjoy your weekend
