What an action packed last week.
Monday we had students on the Blue skies project visiting Linton on Ouse.
Tuesday saw some amazing performances from our students at the Shakespeare festival.
Wednesday we raised £693.01 for the York Hospital Bereavement suite and Sports Relief. Well done to everyone involved!
Take a look at the York Press Article about our fundraising efforts.
If you read the article to the bottom I can confirm as a Haxby resident that Millers Fish and Chip shop is top notch!
Wednesday and Thursday saw the arrival of 80 Dutch students who were visiting the school. Not sure Mr Langley learned a lot of the Dutch language but he has a great accent!
Today we had a training day although almost half of year 11 were in school for the first part of their Art and Photography exam and many others were working on their IT qualification.
I could give you a detailed run down of the training day but I think I have proved my point this year that we are not all in the pub by 12!
Sad day today as we said farewell to Tom Stevens (English Teacher), Stephanie Malone (Science Technician) and Dave Adie (York High legend) or as every student has known him, Adie. Dave has been a fantastic colleague to work with always positive, always helpful but most importantly always funny. Dave will be sadly missed and we wish him luck with his new business.
I just wanted to finish by reflecting upon the fact that when I leave tonight I will have been Head of School for two terms. This term has had its challenges but the main feeling I have is Pride about this school, Pride in the students, Pride in the staff and Pride in the community. We still have a lot of improvements to make but have no doubt that we will work tirelessly to make those improvements.
Thank you to everyone this term who has supported the school, we are going to prove over the next few years that we are as good as anyone.
Look after yourselves
