What a fantastic end to the term! Year 11 parents evening was definitely the best parents evening we have held at YHS. It is a common message from me that we are as good as anywhere else and I have been saying for several weeks that Millthorpe get 80% of parents to attend parent’s evenings. I want to thank the 80% of YHS Year 11 parents who came out on a bitterly cold evening, what a fantastic commitment to the school and their children. Thank you also to the staff who came in at the end of a long term when some were clearly not well to make sure that you have the information to support your children. The quality of conversations throughout the evening was exceptional. Feedback to the new arrangements was overwhelmingly positive. Congratulations to Mrs Burton for organising and planning the evening.
On another note the Geography department took 30 Year 9’s to Askham Bryan College. Mrs Stephens Davies who accompanied the students said the following. We did workshops on conservation and evolution and were given a guided tour of the excellent wildlife park at Askham Bryan College. All students who went did the school proud and asked some very insightful questions and impressed the staff with how much they knew about ecosystems from their geography lessons. Many students feel inspired to take up courses at Askham Bryan College in the future.
Have a great Christmas and we will see you all in 2020
