Week 21 – 24 February 2023
It was great to end the last half term on Children’s Mental Health Week.
KS3 pupils made paper chains highlighting the importance of connecting and KS4 pupils sent postcards to those they feel connected to.
Should you require any support around your child’s mental health please get in touch with myself or your child’s Head of House who can discuss referrals to our growing list of mental health provisions.

Sporting Update
It was great to see the Year 7 and 8’s back at football training after their half term break. We have a number of fixtures coming up in the next few weeks which will certainly keep the teams busy! They are as follows:
Thursday 2nd March- Year 7 vs Huntington at home on the astro
Monday 6th March- Year 7 & Year 8 away at Manor on grass
Wednesday 8th March- Year 8 at home to Joseph Rowntree on grass
Thursday 9th March- Year 8 away at Sherburn on 3G
Monday 13th March- Year 7 away at Fulford on grass
Our U16 girls went over to Harrogate on Tuesday afternoon, to play St Aidans in the 2nd round of the County Cup. The girls played amazing well! There were many superb saves from Mollie, plenty of awesome strikes from Jasmine and fantastic team work throughout. Unfortunately we lost but it really could have gone either way. A great match, well done girls!
Turkey-Syria Earthquake Fundraising
Today the students have been working hard to raise funds. Students have been wearing non-uniform, selling cakes and making a banner with thoughts for all the people affected. The interim total stands at over £530 so well done to all.
Food Technology
Year 7’s made Fruit Salads this week. So proud of them for demonstrating a range of skills and presentation skills. Mrs Tattersall.
Next Week
To follow up my email earlier in the week, can I remind everyone that next week the school will only be open to year 7 and year 11 on Tuesday. Year 8, 9 and 10 will be able to access English and Maths work on Google classrooms.
On Friday the school will be closed for a collaborative training day for all of the schools in the South Bank Multi Academy Trust.
The Year 11 DT Practical deadline is Thursday March 2nd
Officially from today until at least after the Easter holidays Amanda Fraser will be the Interim Headteacher at York High School, I am sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Fraser all the best.
A school is not the buildings that it occupies but the people who are part of it and I would like to say thank you to all of the students, parents and staff who have wished me well with my surgery, especially the students.
Have a great weekend.
