Week 26 – 31 March 2023
As the Spring Term draws to a close, it’s important to reflect on all of the positive aspects of life at York High School. The efforts of the sports teams this term have been a credit to the RESILIENCE of the students. They may not have always won, but they have shown grit and determination, working together to improve their skills with their eyes fixed on maybe winning next time.
I have witnessed ASPIRATION from students telling me about the amazing careers that they want to pursue and the fabulous lives they want to lead in the future. These dreams are what drive the students forward to do their best, every day.
I have also seen SUCCESS in the results of the end of term assessments for all year groups. Students of all abilities trying hard and making progress towards their individual goals and targets.
Many of our Year 11 students will be focussing upon their revision this holiday with lessons being run in some subject areas through the next few weeks. I hope that they use this time wisely, not just to study, but also to take some well-deserved rest in preparation for the examinations in a few short weeks.
I hope that all of our families enjoy a restful and peaceful holiday and I look forward to the return of our students on 17th April.
Other news:
ATL Rewards Trip
Miss Burns, Mrs Thompson and Mrs Muress took 46 pupils to the Trafford Centre on Thursday to celebrate their outstanding attitude to learning scores. Pupils enjoyed the cinema and lunch before either visiting a few shops or the arcades! The pupils were a credit to the school showing a respectful attitude to others and being positive role models. There was also a hearty sing along on the coach on the way home. Well done and congratulations to all involved.
Free School Meal Vouchers
We are delighted to announce that again, due to the generosity of a private individual we will be able to fund vouchers for those entitled to Free School Meals for the 2 weeks of the Easter holidays. Vouchers will arrive in the usual way this week and a huge thank you to our kind donor.
School uniform
We continue to ask for your support in ensuring pupils meet our expectations with school uniform. As we approach the final term, leggings and footwear that are not completely black are creeping in. If you need any financial support with uniform, please contact your child’s Head of House or Karen Tattersfield who will be able to help.
RAS Achievers
Each week we recognise our RAS Achievers. These are students who are nominated by Subject Leaders, House Leaders and SLT for consistently demonstrating RESILIENCE, ASPIRATION and SUCCESS.
Well done to today’s recipients of the RAS Achiever Certificate, nominated by SLT and Maths.
