As part of our ongoing commitment to listening to the views of our school community and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, we have carefully reviewed the feedback received from a range of stakeholders, including students, parents and staff, regarding our school uniform policy.
After careful consideration, I am pleased to announce that in response to this feedback, we will be introducing an update to our policy on nose piercings. Starting from 2 December 2024, students will be permitted to wear retainer studs, provided that they are clear, discreet and suitable for school. This change aims to balance our school’s commitment to maintaining a professional and focused learning environment, whilst also respecting students’ personal choices and individuality.
The clear retainer nose studs will be the only type of nose jewellery allowed, in line with our broader uniform policy. We ask that these clear retainer studs are worn at all times, with no other types of visible piercings permitted apart from a single stud in each ear. This update has been made to ensure that students can express themselves while adhering to the expectations of our school community.

Monday saw our third and final Year 6 History Club session, and it was a treat to be a part of! Students spent the first part finalising their own Horrible Histories scripts, which we then filmed these! We cannot wait to share them after we’ve done a bit of on-screen editing.
It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know some wonderful Year 6 students and I am very much looking forward to meeting them again as Year 7 students in September. Thank you so much also to Izzy, Elliott, and Sam, University of York students who helped us with the sessions.

York High students Ruby, Lewis and Harry had a great day on Wednesday helping Year 5 pupils from Woodthorpe Primary with their Christmas decorations, as part of our ‘Get set for the holidays’ transition day!
It was lovely to welcome pupils from our fellow Trust school to York High for the day.
Our U15 girls football team has got off to a great start. Our first league game was against last year’s overall winners, Fulford School and although we didn’t win (final score was a 2-1 defeat) we walked away feeling confident for the games ahead. Well done girls.

A historic day for the French department with record breaking results!
Over 82% of students achieved at least a grade 4 and nearly 30% achieved a Grade 7 or above!
A special congratulations to Lucy P, Ethan R, Isobel S who all achieved Grade 9’s. Lucy S, Thomas W, Robyn K and Evie B for achieving a Grade 8.
The French department would like to say a special congratulations to Paisley T-C for the huge amounts of effort she demonstrated throughout her French studies. You should be very proud of the results you achieved!
