Message from the Head – Week 28

Week 28 – 25 April 2024

Key Dates

  • Y8 Ripon Workhouse Trip – Wednesday 1st May
  • Y11 GCSE Exams begin – Tuesday 7th May

Thank you

Thank you to everyone who has passed on their congratulations for the Educate North Award that I was lucky enough to receive last week.
However this school is not about one person and I believe that  the award is for the entire York High School Community and the massive improvements we have made in the last 5 years.

Congratulations to Darcy Calvert at the All stars Dance World Championships, read more about this below.

Congratulations also to Robbie Savage and Jemima Huggins who have been selected to represent Team X Martial Arts & WKKC England at the 2024 WKC World Championships in Portugal this year in October.

Year 11 parents and carers please look out for the Timetable for Success that your child will bring home at the start of next week.
This details the exams and the revision sessions that occur alongside normal lessons.
Have a great weekend.

We Are The Champions

Last week our students ROCKED!!

They performed their socks off in our school musical, We Will Rock You!

With 2 performances during the day on Wednesday and Thursday for Hobmoor Yr5 and Westfield Yr5 & 6 in addition to the 3 evening performances, our students were involved in all parts of the production from cast on stage, to stage crew, to makeup designer, to choreographer and even the tech team.

A special mention to the tech crew who learnt how to program and operate lights and how to test, cue and troubleshoot radio mics all in just 1 day of training.

Miss Linsey and Mrs Lancaster are incredibly proud of everything that our students achieved.

We are holding a get together for the cast and crew on Thursday 2nd May straight after school in PA1 with pizza, where we hope to share details of next years show, before announcing it to the whole school next Friday.

If anyone would like to be involved in the school show next year whether in a main role, supporting role, chorus, dancer, tech team or stage crew please keep an eye out for when rehearsals start in September.

Well Done Darcy!

In our Week 26 update, we wished Darcy Calvert from Year 10 the best of luck in her upcoming Allstars World Championships in Florida.

We are pleased to report that Darcy secured 2nd place for her Jazz routine and 3rd place for her Lyrical.

Well done Darcy!

Winners!

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that brought tickets for the Performing Arts Raffle.

Your generosity helps us provide students with access to amazing experiences like our recent production of We Will Rock You, where they gain new skills, friends and lifelong memories.

Congratulations to all the winners, we will be in contact over the coming days to arrange the collection of your prizes.
