 Week 24 Update - 19th March 2021

Tomorrow will be a year since the first period of school closure.  We were reassuring the students about the pandemic whilst organising a last day experience for Year 11.  We hopefully have more certainty for Year 11 as the smaller assessments are starting next week and we will make sure that our students receive grades that are a fair reflection of their ability.  On a lighter note we are organising a Year 11 Prom this year and tickets will go on sale next week.  Year 11 Hoodies are available to order and students have received this information.

We will give more details next week but just wanted to give everyone the heads up on a couple of things.  In order to make sure that we are consistent in all our actions the students will return after the Easter holidays at 10 am to allow for staff training on that morning.  There will be staggered start times so look out for those next week.  We are also changing our phone provider and this will mean the changing of our phone numbers so look out for the new numbers when we have them.

Free School Meals vouchers will be issued during the easter holidays, this has been funded by City of York Council not the national government.

The following is a message from Ms Adams who is leading on our reading programme:

We had a fantastic response to our Masked Reader competition for World Book Day. The winners will be announced in their English lessons next week. Watch out for another exciting reading competition being announced next week too.

Next week is a busy week for reading because all KS3 pupils will have some allocated time to go to the library and make sure they have a book to read. We’re very excited to be restarting our 20 minute reading session every day for the Accelerated Reader program when we return after Easter.

It is still great to be back and we have been very lucky in that we have had no positive cases that have led to a large number of students having to isolate,  please keep up the testing.

I have a fun packed weekend with Rugby to watch on Saturday and my vaccination on Sunday.  Most of you will still be too young to have received your jabs!

 Have a great weekend,

 Rod Sims
